ঝিনাইদহে তামাক গ্রহণ ও ব্যবহার বন্ধে সচেতনতা বিষয়ক প্রশিক্ষণ অনুষ্ঠিত হয়েছে। বুধবার (১৫ মে) সকালে সিভিল সার্জন সম্মেলন কক্ষে এ প্রশিক্ষণের আয়োজন করে জেলা স্বাস্থ্য বিভাগ। এতে সিভিল সার্জন অফিসের মেডিকেল অফিসার ডা: মেহেদি হাসান, সিনিয়র স্বাস্থ্য শিক্ষা অফিসার আব্দুর রহমানসহ অন্যান্যরা বক্তব্য রাখেন। সেসময় বক্তারা বলেন, শিক্ষার্থীরা যেন তামাকের প্রতি কোনো ভাবেই আকৃষ্ট না হয় সেই দিকে সকল শিক্ষকদের নজরদারী রাখতে হবে। তামাক সম্পর্কে শিক্ষার্থীদের সচেতনতা বৃদ্ধি করতে শিক্ষকরাই গুরুত্বপূর্ণ ভূমিকা পালন করবে। তামাক গ্রহণে মানুষের শরীরের জন্য মারাত্বক ক্ষতির কারণ। তামাক গ্রহণের ফলে ক্যান্সারের মত মারাত্বক রোগ শরীরে বাসা বাঁধতে পারে। যে কারণে তামাক সেবন থেকে আমাদের সকলকে বিরত থাকতে হবে এবং অন্যকেও সচেতন করতে হবে। প্রশিক্ষণে উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সের চিকিৎসক ও বিভিন্ন প্রাথমিক ও মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের শিক্ষক, জনপ্রতিনিধি, সুশীল সমাজের প্রতিনিধিসহ অন্যান্যরা অংশ নেয়।
