ব্যাপক উৎসাহ আর উদ্দিপনার মধ্য দিয়ে শেষ হয়েছে বহু কাঙ্খিত চৌগাছা উপজেলা বিএনপির নেতা নির্বাচনের ভোট গ্রহণ। শনিবার (৭ সেপ্টেম্বর) সকাল ৯ টায় চৌগাছা ডিভাইন সেন্টারে ভোট গ্রহণ শুরু হয় আর বিরতীহিনভাবে চলে বিকাল ৪টা পর্যন্ত। দুপুর দেড়টায় এ রিপোর্ট লেখা পর্যন্ত ৭৮১ ভোটের মধ্যে ৭১৫ ভোট কাষ্ট হয়েছে বলে জানান নির্বাচনে দায়িত্ব থাকা সংশ্লিষ্টরা।
কঠোর নিরাপত্তা, দলীয় নেতা কর্মীদের উপচে পড়া ভিড়, উৎসুক জনতার ঢেউ আর নির্বাচন সংশ্লিষ্টদের কঠোর কড়াকড়ির মধ্যে দিয়ে শেষ হয়েছে চৌগাছা বিএনপির নেতা নির্বাচন। সকাল ৯ টায় ভোট গ্রহণের কথা থাকলেও নেতাকর্মীরা অনেক আগেই ডিভাইন সেন্টারের সামনে হাজির হতে থাকেন। তারও আগে কেন্দ্র ডিভাইন সেন্টার নির্বাচন পরিচালনা কমিটির নেতৃবৃন্দ উপস্থিত হয়ে নির্বাচন গ্রহণের সকল প্রস্তুতি সম্পন্ন করেন। নির্বাচনের প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনার ছিলেন যশোর জেলা বিএনপির সদস্য সচিব এ্যাড. সৈয়দ সাবেরুল হক সাবু এবং সহকারী কমিশনার ছিলেন জেলা বিএনপির সদস্য সচিব দেলোয়ার হোসেন খোকন, শরফুদল্লা ছটলু ও সিরাজুল ইসলাম। সহকারী প্রিজাইডিং অফিসারের দায়িত্ব পালন করেন জেলা বিএনপি নেতা আব্দুর রাজ্জাক, আশরাফুজ্জামান মিঠু, আলাউদ্দিন ও আসাদুজ্জামান শাহিন। এছাড়া জেলা বিএনপি ও তার সহযাগী সংগঠনের অনন্ত ২০ কর্মী দিনব্যাপী ব্যাপক পরিশ্রম করে নির্বাচনকে প্রানবন্ত করে তোলেন। দুপুর ১২ টার দিকে জেলা বিএনপির আহবায়ক কমিটির সদস্য এ্যাড. মোঃ ইসহাক, মিজানুর রহমান খান, মুনির আহমেদ সিদ্দিকি বাচ্চু, আলী হোসেন মদন, মহশেপুর উপজেলা বিএনপির সাংগঠনিক সম্পাদক জিয়াউর রহমান জিয়া, প্রেসক্লাব চৌগাছার সাধারণ সম্পাদক শাহানুর আলম উজ্জ্বল, রিপোর্টার্স ক্লাবের সাধারণ সম্পাদক এম হাসান মাহমুদসহ বিভিন্ন জায়গায় দায়িত্বরত ব্যাক্তিরা নির্বাচনের কার্যক্রম পর্যবেক্ষনে আসেন। এর আগে চৌগাছা থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ ইকবাল বাহার চৌধুরী নির্বাচন পর্যবেক্ষন করেন। এদিকে নির্বাচনকে ঘিরে পুলিশ প্রশাসনের ব্যাপক তৎপরতা লক্ষ্য করা গেছে। ভোট শুরু হওয়ার আগেই থানা পুলিশের একটি দল ডিভাইন সেন্টারে উপস্থিত হয়ে শান্তিপূর্ণভাবে ভোট গ্রহণে সারাদিন নিরালসভাবে কাজ করে গেছেন। নির্বাচনে দায়িত্ব থাকা প্রধান নির্বাচন কমিশনার জেলা বিএনপির সদস্য সচিব এ্যাড. সৈয়দ সাবেরুল হক সাবু বলেন, সম্পূর্ণ গণতান্তিক উপায়ে ভোট অনুষ্ঠিত হচ্ছে। ভোটের সার্বিক পরিস্থিতি অত্যান্ত ভালো। যেহেতু এটি দলীয় নির্বাচন তাই যারা আগামী দিনের নেতা নির্বাচিত হবেন তারা প্রত্যেকেই সকলের সাথে নিয়ে দলকে আরো শক্তিশালী করবেন এই প্রত্যাশা।
