চুয়াডাঙ্গায় কুকুরকে বাঁচাতে গিয়ে মোটরসাইকেল নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে গাছের সাথে ধাক্কা লেগে আলামিন হোসেন (২৮) নামের এক যুবকের মৃত্যু হয়েছে। সোমবার (১২ ফেব্রæয়ারি) সকাল ৯টার দিকে চুয়াডাঙ্গা-ঝিনাইদহ মহাসড়কের যুব উন্নয়নের সামনে এ দুর্টঘনা ঘটে। নিহত আলামিন চুয়াডাঙ্গা পৌর এলাকার কলোনি পাড়ার আব্দুল হালিমের ছেলে। তিনি পেশায় সিগারেট কোম্পানির বিক্রয় কর্মী হিসেবে কর্মরত ছিলেন। প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, সোমবার সকাল ৯ টার দিকে আলামিন মোটরসাইকেলযোগে নিজ বাড়ি থেকে জাফরপুরে নিজ অফিসে যাচ্ছিলেন। পথের মধ্যে চুয়াডাঙ্গা-ঝিনাইদহ মহাসড়কের যুব উন্নয়নের সামনে পৌঁছালে মোটরসাইকেলের সামনে একটি কুকুর চলে আসে। এ সময় কুকুর বাঁচাতে গিয়ে নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে সড়কের পাশের একটি গাছের সাথে ধাক্কা লাগে। এ ঘটনায় তিনি মারাত্মক জখম হন। স্থানীয়রা তাকে দ্রæত উদ্ধার করে চুয়াডাঙ্গা সদর হাসপাতালে নেয়। সেখানে চিকিৎসাধীন অবস্থায় সকাল ১১টার দিকে সে মারা যায়। চুয়াডাঙ্গা সদর হাসপাতালের জরুরি বিভাগের কর্তব্যরত চিকিৎসক ডা. শাপলা খাতুন বলেন, মারাত্মক জখম অবস্থায় আলামিন নামের এক যুবককে হাসপাতালে নিয়ে আসে স্থানীয়রা। আমরা প্রাথমিক চিকিৎসা দিয়ে ভর্তি রেখেছিলাম। এর ঘন্টা খানেক পরেই তার মৃত্যু হয়। চুয়াডাঙ্গা সদর থানার অফিসার ইনচার্জ (ওসি) সেকেন্দার আলী মৃত্যুর বিষয়টি নিশ্চিত করে জানান, সকালে মোটরসাইকেল দুর্ঘটনায় একজন মারা গেছে। কোন অভিযোগ না থাকায় পরিবারের কাছে লাশ হস্থান্তর করা হয়েছে।
