দেশের দক্ষিণ-পশ্চিমের জেলা চুয়াডাঙ্গায় জেঁকে বসেছে শীত। ২৪ ঘন্টার ব্যবধানে দেশের সর্বনি¤œ তাপমাত্র ১০ দশমিক ০ ডিগ্রী সেলসিয়াস চুয়াডাঙ্গায়।
গত বুধবার সকালে চুয়াডাঙ্গার তাপমাত্রা ছিল ১৪ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়া তাপমাত্রা প্রায় চার ডিগ্রী কমেছে।
গতকাল বৃহস্পতিবার (১২ ডিসেম্বর) সকাল ৬টায় ও ৯ টায় চুয়াডাঙ্গা আবহাওয়া অফিস ১০ দশমিক ২ ডিগ্রী সেলসিয়াস তাপমাত্রা এবং ৯৭% বাতাসের আদ্রতা রেকর্ড করেছে। ঘন কুয়াশা ও হিমেল হাওয়ায় বেড়েছে দুর্ভোগ। এ কারণে কষ্টে আছেন ছিন্নমূল ও খেটে খাওয়া মানুষেরা।
কুয়াশাচ্ছন্ন সকালে আর সন্ধ্যা নামার সঙ্গে সঙ্গে তীব্র শীত স্থবির হয়ে পড়ছে জনজীবন। গায়ে গরম কাপড় জড়িয়ে কাঁপতে কাঁপতে খেটে খাওয়া মানুষের ছুটে চলছে।
ভ্যান চালক আমির আলী বলেন, সকালে ঠান্ডায় ভ্যানের হ্যান্ডেল ধরা যাচ্ছে না। ইটভাটা শ্রমিক জহুরুল বলেন, এত শীত যে, ভোরে ভাটায় গিয়ে কাদাপানিতে ইট কাটা যাচ্ছে না। চুয়াডাঙ্গা আঞ্চলিক আবহাওয়া পর্যবেক্ষণাগার কেন্দ্রের কর্মকর্তা রাকিবুল হাসান জানান, এখন থেকে এ অঞ্চলের তাপমাত্রা কমতেই থাকবে। শীতের তীব্রতাও বেড়ে যাবে। কর্কট ক্রান্তি রেখা বরাবর চুয়াডাঙ্গার অবস্থান হওয়ায় শীত মৌসুমে প্রায় দিনই দেশের সর্বনি¤œ তাপমাত্রা বিরাজ করে চুয়াডাঙ্গায়।
