চলতি মৌসুমের সকল রেকর্ড ভেঙ্গে শনিবার (২০ এপ্রিল) দেশের সর্বোচ্চ অতি তীব্র তাপদাহ ৪২ দশমিক ৩ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস রেকর্ড করা হয়েছে চুয়াডাঙ্গায়। এসময় বাতাসের আদ্রতা ছিল ১৮ শতাংশ। জেলার হাসপাতাল ও ক্লিনিকগুলোতে দিন দিন বাড়ছে গরমজনিত রোগীর সংখ্যা। তাপদাহের কারণে জেলা প্রশাসন থেকে জেলায় হিট এলার্ট জারি করা হয়েছে। জনসাধারণকে সতর্ক করতে জেলার ৪ উপজেলায় হিট এলার্ট জারির মাইকিং করা হচ্ছে। গরমে স্বাস্থ্য সতর্কতার বিষয়ে স্থানীয় বাসিন্দাদের সচেতন করতে এমন পদক্ষেপ বলে জানিয়েছেন জেলা প্রশাসক কিসিঞ্জার চাকমা। বাইরে বের হলে ছাতা, টুপি বা ক্যাপ দিয়ে মাথা ঢেকে রাখার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হচ্ছে। পাশাপাশি এ ব্যাপারে প্রচার চালানো হচ্ছে সামাজিক যোগাযোগ মাধ্যমেও। একইসঙ্গে চোখে-মুখে ঠান্ডা পানির ঝাপটা দিতে বলা হচ্ছে। গরমে অস্বস্তি কিংবা অসুস্থ বোধ করলে চিকিৎসকের শরণাপন্ন হওয়ার পরামর্শ দেওয়া হচ্ছে। শনিবার সকাল ৭ টার দিকে চুয়াডাঙ্গার দামুড়হুদা উপজেলার সীমান্ত সংলগ্ন ঠাকুরপুর গ্রামের মাঠে কৃষিকাজ করতে গিয়ে জাকির হোসেন নামে এক যুবক হিটস্ট্রোকে আক্রান্ত হয়ে মারা গেছে। গত কয়েক দিন থেকে দেশের সর্বোচ্চ তাপমাত্রা বইছে চুয়াডাঙ্গায়। ১৬ এপ্রিল তাপমাত্রা রেকর্ড করা হয় ৪০ দশিমক ৬ ডিগ্রি সেলিসয়াস, ১৭ এপ্রিল ৪০ দশিমক ৮ ডিগ্রি সেলিসয়াস, ১৮ এপ্রিল ৪০ দশিমক ৪ ডিগ্রি সেলিসয়াস, ১৯ এপ্রিল ৪১ দশমিক ৫ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস তাপমাত্রা বেকর্ড করা হয়। সর্বশেষ শনিবার (২০ এপ্রিল) বেলা ৩ টায় দেশের সর্বোচ্চ তাপমাত্রা ৪২ ডিগ্রী দশমিক ৩ সেলসিয়াস রেকর্ড করা হয় চুয়াডাঙ্গায়। চুয়াডাঙ্গা প্রথম শ্রেণীর আবহাওয়া পর্যবেক্ষণাগারের ইনচার্জ জামিনুর রহমান জানান, শনিবার সকাল ৯ টায় চুয়াডাঙ্গার তাপমাত্রা ছিল ৩৩ দশমিক ২ ডিগ্রী সেলসিয়াস। এসময় বাতাসের আদ্রতা ছিল ৫৮ শতাংশ। এবং বেলা ১২ টায় চুয়াডাঙ্গার তাপমাত্রা ছিল ৪০ দশমিক ৪ ডিগ্রী সেলসিয়াস। এসময় বাতাসের আর্দ্রতা চিল ১৮ শতাংশ। বেলা ৩ টায় তাপমাত্রার পারদ আরো বেড়ে দাড়ায় ৪২ দশমিক ৩ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াসে। এসময় বাতাসের আদ্রতা ছিল ১৮ শতাংশ। তীব্র তাপদাহ ও ঘন ঘন বিদ্যুৎ লোডশেডিং এ অতিষ্ঠ সীমান্তবর্তী চুয়াডাঙ্গা জেলার মানুষ। অসহ্য গরমে ওষ্ঠাগত হয়ে উঠেছে প্রাণীক‚ল। হাসপাতালে বাড়ছে পানিবাহিত ও গরমজনিত রোগীর সংখ্যা। এদিকে রাত ও দিনের তাপমাত্রার মধ্যে খুব বেশি পার্থক্য নেই। দিনের বেশিরভাগ সময় প্রখর তাপে উত্তপ্ত থাকছে গোটা জেলা জুড়ে। দিনের বেলায় সাধারণ মানুষ বাইরে কম বের হচ্ছে। শ্রমজীবী মানুষেরা বের হলেও ফাঁকা রাস্তায় কর্মহীন হয়ে পড়েছেন তারা। তাই একটি প্রশান্তির খোঁজে গাছের নিচে ছায়াযুক্ত স্থানে জিড়িয়ে নিচ্ছেন তারা। আবার অনেকে সড়কের পাশের শরবত ও মাঠা খেয়ে একটু স্বস্তি খুঁজছেন, কেউবা গাছ তলায় ছায়ায় বসে কাটিয়ে দিচ্ছেন দিন।
