বিডিআর হত্যাকাণ্ড: ন্যায়বিচার নিশ্চিতে ৫ কার্যদিবসের মধ্যে তদন্ত কমিটি
বিডিআর হত্যাকাণ্ডে ন্যায়বিচার নিশ্চিত করতে আগামী ৫ কার্যদিবসের মধ্যে তদন্ত কমিটি গঠন করা হবে বলে জানিয়েছেন স্বরাষ্ট্র উপদেষ্টা লেফটেন্যান্ট জেনারেল মো. জাহাঙ্গীর আলম চৌধুরী (অব.)।
মঙ্গলবার (১৭ ডিসেম্বর) সকালে সচিবালয়ে স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয়ের সম্মেলন কক্ষে বিডিআর হত্যাকাণ্ড বিষয়ে বিশেষ সংবাদ সম্মেলনে তিনি এ কথা বলেন। তিনি বলেন, কমিটি গঠন করার পরে কত দিনের মধ্যে প্রতিবেদন জমা দেবে সে বিষয়ে জানানো হবে। কমিটিতে সদস্য থাকবেন পাঁচ থেকে নয়জন। কমিটিতে অবসরপ্রাপ্ত বিচারপতি, প্রশাসনের অবসরপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা, পুলিশের অবসরপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা এবং সশস্ত্র বাহিনীর কর্মকর্তারা থাকবেন।
এর আগে গত রোববার হাইকোর্টকে স্বরাষ্ট্র মন্ত্রণালয় জানিয়েছিল, আলোচিত বিডিআর হত্যাকাণ্ড নিয়ে এখনই কমিশন গঠন করা হচ্ছে না। এ বিষয়ে দুটি মামলা বিচারাধীন থাকায় কমিশন গঠন থেকে আপাতত সরে এসেছে অন্তর্বর্তী সরকার। ছাত্র-জনতার অভ্যুত্থানে গত ৫ আগস্ট শেখ হাসিনা সরকারের পতনের পর বিডিআর হত্যাকাণ্ডের পুনঃতদন্ত চেয়ে আন্দোলন শুরু করেন বৈষম্যবিরোধী ছাত্র আন্দোলনের নেতারা। এর পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে বিডিআর হত্যার পুরো ঘটনার তদন্তে কমিশন গঠনের কথা সামনে আসে।
২০০৯ সালের ২৫ ফেব্রুয়ারি পিলখানায় বিডিআর সদর দপ্তরে বিদ্রোহের ঘটনায় ৫৭ জন সেনা কর্মকর্তাসহ ৭৪ জন হত্যাকাণ্ডের শিকার হন। এ ঘটনায় রাজধানীর লালবাগ থানায় হত্যা ও বিস্ফোরক আইনে দুটি মামলা হয়। পরে এসব মামলা নিউমার্কেট থানায় স্থানান্তরিত হয়। সিআইডি দীর্ঘ তদন্ত শেষে হত্যা মামলায় ২৩ বেসামরিক ব্যক্তিসহ প্রথমে ৮২৪ জনের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগপত্র দাখিল করে।
হত্যাকাণ্ডের ঘটনায় বিস্ফোরক আইনে করা মামলায় ৮০৮ জনের বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগপত্র দেয় সিআইডি। পরে আরও ২৬ জনকে অভিযুক্ত করে মোট ৮৩৪ জনের বিরুদ্ধে সম্পূরক অভিযোগপত্র দেওয়া হয়। রক্তক্ষয়ী ওই বিদ্রোহের প্রেক্ষাপটে বাহিনীটির নাম পরিবর্তন করে রাখা হয় বর্ডার গার্ড বাংলাদেশ (বিজিবি)।
