ভারতে আক্রমণের জন্য ইয়াহিয়াকে আহ্বান জামায়াতে ইসলামীর
১৯৭১-এর ডিসেম্বরে মুক্তিবাহিনীর সুসংগঠিত আক্রমণ মানুষের মাঝে বিজয়ের ঘ্রাণ এনে দিয়েছিল। এই বিজয়ের ঘ্রাণ আরও স্পষ্ট হয়ে উঠেছিল পাকিস্তানি বাহিনীর মরিয়া তৎপরতায়। ভারতের পশ্চিম সীমান্তবর্তী বিমানবন্দরগুলোতে আক্রমণ চালানো এবং পূর্ব পাঞ্জাব, জম্মু ও কাশ্মীরে স্থল আক্রমণ চালানোর আগে ২ ডিসেম্বর পাক-মার্কিন দ্বিপক্ষীয় চুক্তির প্রথম ধারা অনুযায়ী ‘আক্রান্ত দেশ’ হিসাবে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের প্রত্যক্ষ সামরিক হস্তক্ষেপ চায় পাকিস্তান। পাকিস্তান চাইছিল, মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্র সপ্তম নৌবহর নিয়ে এগিয়ে আসবে যুদ্ধে তাদের সহযোগিতা করতে। কিন্তু যুক্তরাষ্ট্র তখন পর্যন্ত এ ব্যাপারে কোনো সিদ্ধান্ত নিতে পারছিল না।
আজ ২ ডিসেম্বর। ১৯৭১ সালের এই দিনে মুক্তিবাহিনী ঘোড়াশালে পাকবাহিনীর অবস্থানের ওপর চার দিক থেকে আক্রমণ করে ২৭ জন পাকিস্তানি সেনাকে হত্যা করতে সক্ষম হয়। এখান থেকে বেশ কিছু গোলাবারুদ উদ্ধার করে মুক্তিবাহিনী। এদিকে, আজমপুর রেলওয়ে স্টেশন মুক্তিবাহিনীর নিয়ন্ত্রণে এলেও পাকিস্তানি বাহিনী তাদের বিপর্যস্ত অবস্থা কাটিয়ে উঠে মুক্তিবাহিনীর ওপর পালটা আক্রমণ করে। এই আক্রমণে মুক্তিবাহিনী পুনরায় তাদের অবস্থান সুদৃঢ় করে তিন দিক থেকে শত্রুকে আক্রমণ করলে পাকবাহিনী আজমপুর রেলওয়ে স্টেশন ছেড়ে পালিয়ে যেতে বাধ্য হয়।
এদিন পাকিস্তান পিপলস পার্টি ও পাকিস্তান জামায়াতে ইসলামীর পূর্ব পাকিস্তান শাখার নেতৃবৃন্দ পাকিস্তানের অখণ্ডতা রক্ষার ভারত আক্রমণের জন্য লক্ষ্যে অবিলম্বে পশ্চিম পাকিস্তানে সীমান্ত থেকে ভারত আক্রমণ করার জন্য প্রেসিডেন্ট ইয়াহিয়ার প্রতি আবেদন জানান। এদিকে, ভারতের প্রধানমন্ত্রী ইন্দিরা গান্ধী নয়াদিল্লিতে কংগ্রেস দলের এক কর্মীসভায় ভাষণ দেওয়ার সময় বলেন, পাকিস্তানি সেনাবাহিনী বাংলাদেশ ছেড়ে গেলেই লাখ লাখ বাঙালি স্বদেশে ফিরে গিয়ে শান্তিপূর্ণ জীবনযাপন করতে পারবে।
এই দিনে, চট্টগ্রামে মুক্তিবাহিনীর গেরিলারা উত্তরে ফটিকছড়ি ও রাউজান থানা এবং দক্ষিণে আনোয়ারার অধিকাংশ স্থান তাদের দখলে আনতে সক্ষম হয়। ১৯৭১ সালের এই দিনে পাকিস্তানি কমান্ডার মোছলেহ উদ্দিন ভালুকা থেকে একদল রাজাকার সঙ্গে নিয়ে কাঁঠালি গ্রামে লুটপাট এবং অগ্নিসংযোগ করতে এলে মুক্তিবাহিনীর সেকশন কমান্ডার গিয়াসউদ্দিন এবং ৩ নম্বর সেকশন কমান্ডার আবদুল ওয়াহেদের নেতৃত্বে পরিচালিত অতর্কিত আক্রমণে তিন জন পাকিস্তানি হানাদার এবং সাত জন রাজাকার নিহত হয় এবং সাত জন পাকিস্তানি সেনা আহত হয়। পরে পাকিস্তানি হানাদাররা মৃতদেহগুলো নিয়ে পালিয়ে যায়।
