মার্কিন যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের আলাস্কান উপদ্বীপে শক্তিশালী ভূমিকম্প আঘাত হেনেছে। রিখটার স্কেলে যার মাত্রা ছিলো ৮ দশমিক ২। ভূমিকম্পের পর ওই অঞ্চলে সুনামি সতর্কতা জারি করা হয়েছে বলে জানিয়েছে বার্তা সংস্থা রয়টার্স।
এক বিবৃতিতে মার্কিন ভূতাত্ত্বিক জরিপ জানিয়েছে, পেরিভিলে শহর থেকে ৯১ কিলোমিটার দক্ষিণ-পূর্বে ভূমিকম্পটির কেন্দ্রস্থল। এরপরেই দক্ষিণ আলাস্কা এবং আলাস্কান উপদ্বীপে সুনামি সতর্কতা জারি করা হয়েছে।
জানা যায়, মার্কিন সরকার আলাস্কা অঙ্গরাজ্যের দক্ষিণ-পূর্বাঞ্চলে সুনামি সতর্কতা জারি করেছে। দেশটির সুনামি ওয়ার্নিং সিস্টেম এক বিবৃতিতে জানিয়েছে, ভূমিকম্পের প্রভাবে আগামী ৩ ঘণ্টার মধ্যে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের কিছু উপকূলে সুনামি আঘাত হানার সম্ভাবনা আছে।
