সোমবার গাজার স্বাস্থ্য কর্মকর্তারা জানিয়েছেন, ইসরায়েলের এ হামলায় ৩৭ জন নিহত ও বহু মানুষ আহত হয়েছে। হঠাৎ করে এ আক্রমণে রাফাজুড়ে চরম আতঙ্ক ছড়িয়ে পড়ে। ইসরায়েল রাফায় তাদের স্থল হামলা শুরু করে দিয়েছে বলে আশঙ্কা করছেন অনেকে।
রয়টার্সকে রাফার বাসিন্দারা জানিয়েছেন, হামলা যখন শুরু হয় তখন অনেকেই ঘুমিয়ে ছিলেন। হামলায় ইসরায়েলি জঙ্গি বিমান, ট্যাংক ও যুদ্ধজাহাজ অংশ নেয়। ব্যাপক বোমা ও গোলা বর্ষণে দু’টি মসজিদ ও বেশ কয়েকটি বাড়ি গুড়িয়ে যায়।
একইদিন ইসরায়েলের সামরিক বাহিনী জানিয়েছে, গাজার দক্ষিণাঞ্চলে তারা ‘পরপর বেশ কয়েকবার’ হামলা চালিয়েছে আর এখন সেটি ‘শেষ হয়েছে’; কিন্তু বিস্তারিত আর কিছু জানায়নি তারা।
এর আগে গাজার কোনো শহরে হামলা চালানোর আগে ইসরায়েলের সামরিক বাহিনী কোনো নির্দিষ্ট উদ্বাসন পরিকল্পনা ছাড়াই বেসামরিক ফিলিস্তিনিদের এলাকা ছাড়ার নির্দেশ দিয়েছিল।
