চ্যাম্পিয়নস লিগের ইতিহাসের সবচেয়ে সফল দল রিয়াল মাদ্রিদ। চলতি মৌসুমে সেটা আবারও প্রমাণ করছে তারা। এরই মধ্যে ফাইনালে পৌঁছে গিয়েছে। গতরাতে সেমিফাইনালের ফিরতি লেগে ম্যানচেস্টার সিটিকে ৩-১ গোলে হারিয়ে প্রত্যাবর্তনের অসাধারণ গল্প লিখেছে স্প্যানিশ জয়ান্টরা। প্রথম লেগে লিড নিয়েও এভাবে পরাজয় মেনে নিতে পারছে না সিটির সমর্থক থেকে শুরু করে দলটির ম্যানেজার পেপ গার্দিওয়ালাও।
এর আগে প্রথম লেগে নিজেদের মাঠে ৪-৩ গোলের ব্যবধানে জয় পেয়েছিল ম্যানচেস্টার সিটি। গতরাতে ফিরতি লেগে পরাজিত হয়েছে ১-৩ ব্যবধানে। দুই লেগ মিলিয়ে রিয়াল মাদ্রিদ ৬- সিটি ৫। অথচ দুই লেগ মিলিয়ে সেরা ফুটবল খেলেছে সিটি। গতরাতেও সান্তিয়াগো বার্নাব্যু-তেও দাপট দেখিয়েছে পেপ গার্দিওয়ালার শীষ্যরা। ৮৯ মিনিট পর্যন্ত ২ গোলের লিড (৫-৩) ছিল তাদের। কিন্তু এর পরই ঘটে বিপত্তি। মুহূর্তের মধ্যেই জোড়া গোল করে বসেন বদলি নামা রিয়ালের ব্রাজিলিয়ান ফরোয়ার্ড রদ্রিগো। আর যোগ করা সময়ের শেষ মিনিটে পেনাল্টিতে জয়সূচক গোলটি আদায় করে নেন করিম বেনজেমা।
এমন পরাজয়ের পর পেপ গার্দিওয়ালা বলছেন, এই হারের দুঃসহ স্মৃতি ভুলতে তার দলের খেলোয়াড়দের সময় লাগবে। পেপ বলেন, ‘তাদের (সিটির খেলোয়াড়) মন খারাপ। চ্যাম্পিয়নস লিগের ফাইনালে পৌঁছার খুব কাছে ছিল তারা। আমাদের সময় লাগবে।’ম্যাচের ৫৬ শতাংশ সময় বল দখলে ছিল সিটির। প্রথমার্ধে গোলশূন্য ড্র থাকার পর দ্বিতীয়ার্ধের ৭৩ মিনিটে বার্নান্দো সিলভার বাড়িয়ে দেওয়া বলে গোল আদায় করে নেন রিয়াদ মাহরেজ। এতে সিটির ব্যবধান বেড়ে দাঁড়ায় ৫-৩। তখন সমর্থকদের মনেও আশার সঞ্চার হচ্ছিল যে, প্যারিসের ফাইনালে ইংলিশ চ্যাম্পিয়নরাই যাচ্ছে! কিন্তু প্রতিপক্ষ দলটা যে রিয়াল মাদ্রিদ, সেটা ভুলে গেলে তো চলবে না। যারা নিজেদের মাঠে প্রায় প্রতিবারই প্রত্যাবর্তনের অসাধারণ গল্প লিখতে অভ্যস্ত। শেষ পর্যন্ত হলোও তাই।
গার্দিওয়ালা বলেন, ‘প্রথমার্ধে আমাদের ধারাবাহিকতা ছিল না। আমরা খুব ভালো ছিলাম না। তবে খুব একটা ভুগতে হয়নি। পরে গোল করার পর আমরা আরও ভালো খেলতে থাকি। রিদমও খুঁজে পাই। খেলোয়াড়রা কম্পোর্টেবল হতে থাকে। শেষ ১০ মিনিটে আপনি আশা করবেন যে তারা আক্রমণ করবে এবং আপনার ভুগতে হবে। কিন্তু এমনটা ঘটেনি। এর পরই (যোগ করা সময়) তারা (রিয়াল মাদ্রিদ) বক্সে মিলিতাও, রদ্রিগো, ভিনিসিয়ুস জুনিয়র ও মার্কস সহ অনেককে জড়ো করে এবং দুই গোল আদায় করে নেয়।’
‘আমরা খুব বেশি ভুগিনি। কিন্তু আমরা আমাদের সেরাটাও খেলতে পারিনি। খেলোয়াড়রা চাপ অনুভব করবে, সেমিফাইনালে এটা সাধারণ ঘটনা। আমরা খুব কাছে ছিলাম। কিন্তু ফুটবল সম্পর্কে আগে থেকে কিছু বলা যায় না,’ যোগ করেন সিটি ম্যানেজার।
