হঠাৎ ওয়াশিংটন যাচ্ছেন পিটার হাস
বাংলাদেশে নিযুক্ত মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রদূত পিটার হাস হঠাৎ করেই ওয়াশিংটন যাচ্ছেন। তিনি শ্রীলংকার রাজধানী কলম্বো হয়ে ওয়াশিংটন যাবেন বলে জানা গেছে। বৃহস্পতিবার (১৬ নভেম্বর) দুপুরে তিনি কলম্বোর উদ্দেশে ঢাকা ছাড়বেন বলে কূটনৈতিক সূত্রে জানা গেছে।
জানা গেছে, পিটার হাস বেলা ১১টায় ঢাকা ত্যাগ করার কথা থাকলেও হযরত শাহজালাল আন্তর্জাতিক বিমানবন্দর থেকে দুপুর ১২টা থেকে ১টার মধ্যে একটি ফ্লাইটে ঢাকা ত্যাগ করতে পারেন।
তবে হঠাৎ করেই তার এই ঢাকা ত্যাগ করার কারণ জানা যায়নি।
নির্বাচন নিয়ে ওবায়দুল কাদেরের সঙ্গে বুধবার (১৫ নভেম্বর) সকালে বৈঠকে বসেন মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রদূত। সেখানে তিনি বাংলাদেশে একটি শান্তিপূর্ণ ও নিরপেক্ষ নির্বাচন কথা উল্লেখ করেন। চলমান রাজনৈতিক অস্থিরতা পরিহার করে শর্তহীন একটি সংলাপের ওপরও জোর দেন মার্কিন এই রাষ্ট্রদূত।
সোমবার জাতীয় পার্টির চেয়ারম্যান জি এম কাদেরের সঙ্গে বৈঠক করেছেন মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রদূত পিটার হাস। এ সময় যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের দক্ষিণ ও মধ্য এশিয়া বিষয়ক ব্যুরোর অ্যাসিস্ট্যান্ট সেক্রেটারি ডোনাল্ড লুর দেওয়া একটি চিঠি জাতীয় পার্টির কাছে পৌঁছে দেন ঢাকায় নিযুক্ত মার্কিন রাষ্ট্রদূত।
