ফিলিপাইনে বাস খাদে পড়ে নিহত ১৭

দুর্ঘটনার স্থানটিকে ‘দুর্ঘটনা প্রবণ’ বলে উল্লেখ করেন প্রাদেশিক দুর্যোগ সংস্থার প্রধান রডেরিক ট্রেইন। তিনি বলেন, বাসটি মঙ্গলবার বিকেলে অ্যান্টিক প্রদেশের হ্যামটিক পৌরসভায় যাওয়ার সময় দুর্ঘটনার কবলে পড়ে। ব্রেক ফেলের কারণেই সম্ভবত চালক নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারান। আহত সাতজনের অবস্থা গুরুতর এবং বাকি চারজনের অবস্থা স্থিতিশীল। নিহতদের মধ্যে একজন কেনিয়ার নাগরিক রয়েছেন। এ ছাড়া আরেকজন কেনিয়ার নাগরিকের অবস্থাও গুরুতর।
প্রদেশের গভর্নর রোডোরা কাডিয়াও রেডিও স্টেশন ডিজেডআরএইচকে জানান, ঘন জঙ্গলে পরিপূর্ণ পাহাড়ি এলাকার রাস্তাটি থেকে ৩০ মিটার (১০০ ফুট) নিচে পড়ে যায় বাসটি। কেনিয়ার মোট চারজন যাত্রী ছিল বাসটিতে। বাকি যাত্রীদের বেশির ভাগই ছিল অ্যান্টিকের অধিবাসী। তবে পরে পুলিশ জানায়, বাসটিতে দুজন কেনিয়ার নাগরিক ছিলেন। এ ছাড়া একজনের মরদেহ শনাক্ত করা সম্ভব হয়নি।
এছাড়া গভর্নর কাডিয়াও হাসপাতালে থাকা আহতদের সঙ্গে দেখা করেছেন। চিকিৎসা সহায়তার বিষয়ে প্রতিশ্রুতিসহ নিহতদের শেষকৃত্য আয়োজনের বিষয়ে কথা বলেন তিনি।
