বিশ্বে একশ দশ কোটি মানুষ তীব্র দারিদ্র্যের মধ্যে বসবাস করছে বলে এক প্রতিবেদনে জানিয়েছে জাতিসংঘ। এর মধ্যে অর্ধেক মানুষের বসবাস সংঘাতময় দেশগুলোতে। খবর আল-জাজিরার
ইউএনডিপির প্রকাশিত প্রতিবেদনে দেখা গেছে, নানা ধরনের দারিদ্রতার মধ্যে সবচেয়ে খারাপ অবস্থা যুদ্ধবিধ্বস্ত দেশগুলোতে। এসব দেশে যেমন রয়েছে পুষ্টিহীনতা তেমনি রয়েছে বিদ্যুৎ, পানি ও স্যানিটেশনের অভাব। ১১২টি দেশ ও ছয়শ কোটির বেশি মানুষের ওপর গবেষণা চালিয়ে দেখা গেছে, একশ দশ কোটি মানুষ তীব্র দরিদ্র্যের মধ্যে বসবাস করছে।
ইউএনডিপির আচিম স্টেইন বলেন, সম্প্রতি সংঘাতের পরিধি বেড়েছে। এতে একদিকে যেমন হতাহত বাড়ছে তেমনি রেকর্ড সংখ্যক মানুষ বাস্তুচ্যুত হচ্ছে। যার প্রভাব পড়ছে জীবন ও জীবিকায়। প্রকাশিত তথ্যে দেখা গেছে, ১৮ বছরের নিচের প্রায় ৫৮৪ মিলিয়ন মানুষ চরম দারিদ্রতায় ভুগছে।
তাছাড়া সংঘাতপূর্ণ দেশগুলোতে শিশু মৃত্যু হার ৮ শতাংশ। স্থিতিশীল দেশুগলোতে এই হার মাত্র এক দশমিক এক শতাংশ।
