জাতির জনক বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের কনিষ্ঠ সন্তান শেখ রাসেলের ৫৯ তম জন্ম বার্ষিকী শেখ রাসেল দিবস উপলক্ষে গতকাল মঙ্গলবার সকালে ঝিনাইদহের মহেশপুরে শেখ রাসেলের ছবিতে পুম্পমাল্য অর্পন, র্যালী-আলোচনা সভায় ও কেক কাটার মধ্য দিয়ে শেখ রাসেল দিবসটি পালিত হয়েছে।
উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা নয়ন কুমার রাজবংশীর সভাপতিত্বে উপজেলা পরিষদ চত্তরে অনুষ্ঠিত আলোচনা সভায় প্রধান অতিথির বক্তব্য রাখেন ঝিনাইদহ-৩ আসনের সংসদ সদস্য আলহাজ¦ শফিকুল আজম খান চঞ্চল।
আলোচনা সভায় বিশেষ অতিথির বক্তব্য রাখেন উপজেলা পরিষদের চেয়ারম্যান ময়জদ্দীন হামিদ,উপজেলা আওয়ামীলীগের সভাপতি সাজ্জাদুল ইসলাম,সাধারণ সম্পাদক মীর সুলতানুজ্জামান লিটন, উপজেলা প্রকৌশলী শাহারিয়ার আকাশ, থানার অফিসার ইনর্চাজ (ওসি) সেলিম মিয়া,উপজেলা প্রকল্প বাস্তবায়ন কর্মকর্তা মেহেরুননেছা,মহেশপুর সরকারী মডেল পাইলট মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষক জহুরুল ইসলাম,মহেশপুর পাইলট মাধ্যমিক বালিকা বিদ্যালয়ের প্রধান শিক্ষক রঞ্জন কুমার মজুমদার,উপজেলা পল্লীউন্নয়ন কর্মকর্তা বাহাউল ইসলাম,উপজেলা সমাজ সেবা কর্মকর্তা মোস্তাফিজুর রহমান প্রমুখ।
এর পুর্বে উপজেলা পরিষদ চত্ত্বর থেকে বর্ণাঢ্য র্যালী বের করা হয়। র্যালী শেষে শেখ রাসেলের ৫৯ তম বার্ষিকী উপলক্ষে শেখ রাসেলের ছবিতে পুম্পমাল্য অর্পন করেন এম,পি চঞ্চলসহ উপস্থিত অতিথি বৃন্দ। পরে কেক কেটে জাতির জনক বঙ্গবন্ধু শেখ মুজিবুর রহমানের কনিষ্ঠ সন্তান শেখ রাসেলের ৫৯ তম বার্ষিকী পালন করা হয়।
